What a lot of fun! Thank you, Cliff, for loaning me your tub. This was my first grub tub race, and man, it is not as easy as it looks, especially in those wild wind conditions! It was touch and go for a while before the race...I wasn't sure I'd be racing because the epoxy on Cliff's centerboard fix was still like jello and started bubbling up with water as soon as we launched. Then along came Hugh and Martin with some quick hardening 5 minute epoxy and...presto, she was watertight....that is, until the 3rd race. I was in 3rd place rounding the 1st mark and feeling good about my downwind leg until, whoop...the wind caught my sail and pulled the bow down and I went right over! You have to constantly shift your weight in those tubs, and there is no rest for the weary! I lost a pair of sunglasses and gained several black and blues on my legs, but I'll be back next year!!! Had a blast.

It was blast alright….about 20 blasts too many! I, too can barely move, have bruises all over my body, and can’t walk normally yet. This was the usual fall classic, demolition derby in Grub Tubs. Congrats to Ben and Henry for keeping upright all the time. Next year we need more boats, and perhaps a moderate seabreeze instead of those williwaws coming off the castle! Thanks, Ross, for running the races and thanks to all who helped out on the water and on the dock.
