2010 HYC Cruise July 30th -Aug 2nd
(Wednesday, May 5th, 2010)We have an exciting cruise scheduled, and this year we have ordered clear weather, fair winds, and following seas. We hope to add more boats this year, so plan early. The timing is perfect as a starting point to kick off continuation of down east cruises.

Planned itinerary: 2010 Cruise

This sounds like alot of fun. Maybe this year we can lower the freeboard even more on Allegra.

I created a video of the cruises from pictures I took, if you want a copy contact me – Cliff
I will take a stab at a writeup:
Night 1 Snow Island, party aboard Rooster. Great time- we had the pleasure of arriving late and getting to take the pics there- lots of fun!
Night 2: A light wind day but again perfect weather led us to Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club- cocktails and dinner at club, great time. The Crew of Allegra dragged its guests out afterward to the famous candlepin bolwing lanes but were too late to bowl, however did shoot some mean pool with DJ cliff George and his lovely groupie
spinin the juke box tunes-
Night 3: Light winds and perfect blue skies (where’s the fog? – we could all get used to this in July/Aug)- to Harbor Island for another amazing evening ashore with the Davis’s- better hosts could not be asked for! Thank you once again Davis Family! Last years cruise saw us at Harbor in pea soup fog- what a contrast- even the mosquitos behaved!
This cruise, again superbly organized by Peter McCracken, was a real success- we were all delighted to have several “Freinds of HYC” boats join in, and also some boats of those on the wait list, one I can recall is Apres Ski with Joe Fraser and Nancy Tannenbaum (the hardest working volunteers on teh waiting list by the way!)
My commentary ends here though the criuise continued for most others- some East to Northeast Harbor, some back to The Basin then home, but all fun! Allegra had a great light air sail back to Freeport after a very early (and very groggy) departure from Harbor Island.
Thank you all for participating and making this event a real winner- and lest I forget: Thank you to Heidi Bishop for the nice cruise burgees again this year!
The cruise was terrific, Thanks Lev and Megan for hosting our evening picnic!!
Ditto John K.s comments, and Laura and I thank Heidi and John for dinner the 1st night!
Next year it will be hard to top this cruise unless some more HYC folks attend!
