General Information and Requirements:

Open to ages 8 to 18: All participants must be 9 years old by September 1. Exceptions to this rule are on a case-by-case basis for experienced younger sailors only.

Swim test: All students must be able to tread water for two minutes without a PFD. In addition, each student must be able to swim 200 feet fully clothed, remove their clothes while treading water and put on their PFD. Please bring a swimsuit and towel to the first day of class. Swimming is only allowed in a designated area under the direct supervision of an Instructor.

No Membership Required: There is no requirement that participants in the program are members of the Harraseeket Yacht Club or any other yacht club. The Harraseeket Yacht Club sailing program serves as many young people as possible and the yacht club provides the necessary support to run a quality program.

Scholarship: In keeping with HYC’s tradition of making sailing accessible to all, a limited number of scholarship positions are available. (Please contact the Sailing Director for eligibility requirements)

Admission is on a first come first serve basis. Club members and prior year students who enroll before March 30th receive priority. Early applications are encouraged since vacancies fill quickly. A deposit (per Session) is due upon application and the balance due by May 1st.
